S.O.S. Hunter Elite Instructions
Congratulations on purchasing the newest innovation in archery stabilization!
The ACU Archery S.O.S. is a tuned-mass damper designed to remove excess vibrations/sight picture movement out of your shot while you aim and execute your shot. This device uses the same technology that has been developed to stabilize skyscrapers against wind turbulence and earthquakes, medical devices used for surgery, and even in F1 cars for a short time before being deemed too much of an advantage for the racers.
Just like no two buildings are the same, no two bows or shooters are the same either. This means that finding the perfect spot for your S.O.S. is going to take some time and testing to find the exact location that gives you your best aim. That being said, we have found a few common mounting locations that work as great balance points to help you get started.
First, you will want to remove your S.O.S. Hunter Elite from the packaging.
Inside your package, you will find:

One S.O.S Wire Unit

One 5/16″ – 24 Bolt. 3/4″ length

One 5/16″ – 24 Bolt. 1 1/4″ length

One Mounting Bracket QD + Barrel Nut
Installation Steps
Step 1:
Remove the QD Receiver and Barrel Nut from the Mounting Bracket by loosening the 1 1/4″ 5/16-24 bolt.
Step 2:
Attach the S.O.S. Wire unit to the Mounting Bracket with the 3/4″ 5/16-24 bolt.
Step 3A:
If you will be installing your Mounting Bracket direct to your bow, use the 1 1/4″ 5/16-24 bolt to attach the bracket to your riser hole via the Bracket Receiver Hole (as pictured).
Step 3B:
If you will be installing your Mounting Bracket via a hole that already has a stabilizer, remove the stabilizer and install the Mounting Bracket with the Quick Disconnect Receiver via the 1/14″ 5/16-24 bolt as pictured to the right.
Step 4:
Start shooting and testing with your S.O.S. Device! Follow the advanced tuning information below for additional insight into how the unit works!
Advanced Tuning Steps
Wire Orientation is very important.
If your typical aiming pattern is an up and down movement, you will want to set the weak axis of the wire to be positioned vertically. This will allow the unit to flex vertically and balance your aim. Vice versa,, if your aiming pattern is more left and right, you’ll want to have the weak axis positioned horizontally. To adjust the orientation of the wires, use the 1/4″ Allen Wrench provided to loosen the 5/16-24 bolt connecting the wire unit to the mounting bracket, position to the correct orientation and tighten the bolt back to snug.

Weight balancing.
The S.O.S. Hunter Elite has been designed specifically for 3-5 ounces of weight. Your base cap (where the wires enter) weighs 2 ounces along with the larger removable weight. The smaller removable weight weighs 1 ounce. If you feel like the unit over-corrects your aim, remove an ounce at a time. If you remove too many ounces, you will feel like the S.O.S. is not doing enough to help in which case add weight back on 1 ounce at a time.
Finding your favorite location.
The S.O.S. Hunter Elite has been optimally designed for 99% of archers. You can mount it on the top or bottom of your bow, front or back – the S.O.S. Hunter Elite still work! The most important thing with finding your best location is the feel of balance that you achieve with the chosen location.
